
Margarida Silvestre was elected Senior Deputy of the “New SIG Ethics & Law Steering Committee” of the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).
The election of this specialist of Reproductive Medicine was confirmed by the ESHRE Executive Committee earlier this month, being the only portuguese member that integrates this committee until then.
With a PhD in Bioethics from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and with a vast clinical and academic curriculum in both areas, Reproductive Medicine and Medical Ethics, Margarida Silvestre, currently holds the position of vice-president of the Portuguese Society of Reproductive Medicine.
ESHRE is the most important European scientific society dedicated to Reproductive Medicine. This society has 34 years of existence and its main objectives are the scientific training and updating, the accreditation of professionals and also the promotion of improvement in clinical practices, namely by encouraging medical education. ESHRE’s mission is also to inform civil society and policy makers on technical, legal and ethical issues related to Assisted Reproductive Techniques, as well as to analyze and disseminate the results of their use in Europe.
